Italian student wins £1.3m for music scholarship in a music contest
By Business Insider Staff The Italian student who won a scholarship for music to help him with his music education has now won the first ever music scholarship to fund the UK.
Faziolo Piano, 21, from the northern city of Verona, had been competing in a competition to raise money for the University of Manchester.
He has now set up the Musica Italiana in honour of his passion for music.
The scholarship will fund him to attend a year-long music school in Manchester, starting in the fall, with the aim of completing his degree in the following year.
Fiziolo was studying at Manchester University’s Music, Drama and Drama Studies (MDS) and Theatre Studies (TS) programme at the time of the competition.
The school has since launched the Musico Italiana Scholarship, a two-year scholarship to help students with their music education, and is the first in the UK to do so.
He said: “This is the best decision I’ve ever made.
It has been an amazing journey.
The Musicoia Italiani Scholarship is one of several scholarships being offered across the UK in an effort to encourage talented musicians to study abroad. “
I feel really blessed and honoured to be a part of this, and I hope to one day be able to travel to Italy to perform and perform with other musicians.”

Last year, a scholarship was also awarded to a young student from the UK, who had just won the BAFTA for his role in the BBC show The Handmaid’s Tale.
His win also highlighted the growing interest in the talent sector in the US, with companies such as Spotify announcing they were opening a new office in New York City to help musicians pursue careers overseas.
Fitzgerald said the scholarship was a huge success, and the university would continue to support him in his studies.
